New girl: fluffy white Silky

Hi there!
I wanted to introduce the new girl
I named her Coconut
She’s 3 months old!
Now my four other girls aren’t quite as thrilled as I am to have a new friend.. At first they picked at her a lot, I put her in a crate inside the coop so they would get used to her. Now its been 4-5 days and I don’t crate her anymore but she doesn’t go outside with them and isint really part of the crew.
Should I expect she will become part of it anytime soon?

Coconut is beautiful! I have not had a lot of success integrating a single bird -- which explains why I have a "house chicken." She free ranges outdoors during appropriate weather in the daytime, but comes in at night. Despite having her outside all summer, none of the other birds really befriended her. On the plus side, they don't run her off anymore.

It is tricky introducing a single chicken. Try getting her at least one buddy, preferably a silkie. Make sure she can see well through her head fluff (crest). She is beautiful!

Should I expect she will become part of it anytime soon?

Not until she starts laying....even then she may be a loner.

My flock has a single silkie, or it did until the four silkie chicks hatched last week. Kylo Hen is a unique bird. She was raised with the other birds, so I know she is part of the flock. Even so, she tends to do her own thing. She will often be off by herself. She had been sleeping on the roost bar, often on one no one else was using. Since one of her d’Uccle “sisters” started being broody she moved to sleeping in a corner on the floor. I don’t ever see her getting picked on. She will gather with the other girls if I throw out treats, but if she can find some off to the side with no one else she will go there over getting in the hullabaloo. She seems happy so I just figure she’s an odd bird. Don’t know if this helps. I just wanted to point out my experience with a single silkie. As long as she isn’t being bullied and seems to be happy I think it’s alright. Of course I’m new to this so take my opinion with a grain of salt.

thanks for your response. with time, it's been a week today, i think she is starting to integrate, actually on the first day i decided to crate her inside the coop because i felt too bad for her. She is in her corner a lot, but seems to be less picked on.. i just hope she will become part of the pack..
