My name is Asa and I'm a 29 year old career firefighter from Arkansas. I grew up spending my summers on my grandparents farm when I was young and a couple of years ago decided to become more self sufficient. Among other things, I began raising my own laying hens. I have a motley crew of hens and roos consisting of Buff Orps, New Hampshires, RRR, Barred Rocks and most recently a pair of Silkie Naked Neck pullets. I also have a whole host of bantams, 2 ducks and a pair of turkeys. Ive been successful raising them to this point(minus a coyote problem or two) doing things the old school way I grew up learning, but I look forward to learning more modern and inventful ways of keeping a happier and healthier flock. I look forward to talking to everyone,

    Asa Harvey.

Welcome to BYC, Asa. Glad you decided to our flock. Which part of Arkansas are you in? I was born in Hot Springs, AR, and still love that area. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Good luck with your flock.
