This may seem silly to some of you but I was told this is a hen but she has huge spurs. I was told she was one of their best layers, but nothing yet since I don't have any extra light on her and it has been a bit cold. I was told she was a black leghorn. What do you guys think?

This is the roo we got with her. Is it possible they are both roo's even though they look so different? Maybe different breeds?

Black Leghorn pair - I'm jealous. They are hard to come by.

There are actually 2 hens and 1 roo. I am actually looking to re-home them and posted on craigs list this weekend but they are still here. They did not take to my existing flock, even though 7 others I introduced this week did great! It's a shame you don't live closer [IMG] I would like them to have a good home.

I am so excited because I ended up with a trio of Black Copper Marans from a breeder about an hour and a half away that he bread for very dark eggs. Now I need to find an inexpensive incubator to hatch the eggs in another 2 months.

Oh, I'd love some eggs out of that pair. [IMG] Very lovely birds. Yes, that is a hen. I had a Speckled Sussex hen that had spurs just like that. That's definitely a hen tail too.

Ok, so if I keep them for a little while, would you guys buy chicks or eggs? I guess I can get rid of them after everyone that wants black leghorns have their black leghorns.
