new hens 1year old werent getting enough feed

i bought 10, 1 year old hens they were in a coop with 50 other birds all same age . they were only getting 2 coffee cans of feed a day . i brought them home have had them a week and only 3 out of 10 seem to be laying now. i have feeders that are full 24/7 so how long will it take to get them to lay again.

Poor babies! I'm sure they'll be feeling better soon. It may take a couple of weeks before they are laying well, though.

It may take a few weeks, depends on several factors.... Not only poor nutrition but stress/change in environment/flock etc can be a reason for them not to lay for a while. I would continue to let them have free access to layer food, keep some crushed oyster shell in a dish available so they can supplement calcium as they need it. Fresh water, clean coop and some patience will hopefully result in happy egglaying chickens!!!! Sounds like they are in a better place now
