Hi everybody I am new to this forum my name is Alyssa and I'm from Minnesota and I have a question about ducks I have 6 baby duck that are going to hatch on the 3rd of April and are being mailed to me and each duckling is going to become a pet for me and my boyfriend and our 4 children. What do I need to know about having them as pets? We have to Jumbo Pekin and black Swedish we are very excited we have a baby starter kit that has feed and the baby diaper harnesses which diaper harnesses would you guys recommend after they are bigger or even now?

Sorry I can't answer your questions but I can recommend the best place to ask. "Show us your house ducks," thread just put that in the search box above and it will pop up for you.

Hi Alyssa and welcome to BYC. Do you mean keeping them as indoor pets, or being outside (but not considered livestock)?

Either way, the duck forum is a good place to begin -

Then D/Diva's suggested thread is a good one to look at, but I know of other members that keep house ducks so feel free to ask on the duck forum also.

G’Day from down under Alyssa [IMG] Welcome!

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out [IMG]
