The one in the back looks like a female mallard for sure. The boy in front seems to be a mix...definitely has some mallard in him, because of the green head and yellow bill, but his body should have more gray overall (or black and brown like the female if he were in eclipse plumage), and he should have a white neck ring, not a white splattering on the front of his neck.

Thanks very much.im glad to hear im not crazy..lol.ive been over hundred of pics trying to place him.any idea what he may be mixed with? And if i keep an eye on them do you think the female will be safe from advances from my drake? So far he is rather protective of her and it almost appears that he is showing her around and how to duck like a big girl.

Not sure...all the brown suggests khaki campbell, but the partial white bib suggests swedish, but I think those only come in black and blue...either of those breeds would make sense considering his size, since they're not huge ducks like pekins. Honestly, I really have no idea how duck color genes work though, so I could be completely wrong, lol. I'm just going off of what each breed looks like on its own.

She'll probably get mated eventually; hopefully he isn't too rough with her. Two of my boys aren't, but the third is a real brute to everyone except the girl he grew up with (although he does mate her too).

The partial white bib is really just something that lays in duck genetics. I had a Mallard x pekin cross that looked identical to a black swedish. He looks similar to a khaki campbell but his head marking blend too well into his body. Maybe a mallard cross of some kind, (but then all domesticated ducks come from mallards) Maybe a buff x khaki cross. How big is he? He looks a little like a call duck, but not sure. The girl looks very mallard...could also be a mallard colored call duck, depending on the size. :)

Probably just made you more confused, sorry LOL

Well...you know this. He isn't a Indian runner. He isn't a magpie. He isn't a pekin. He isn't a rouen. He isn't a silver appleyard. He isn't a golden 300. He isn't an Ancona. He doesn't look like a meat breed, So he may be an egg breed, but more than all that he looks like a Call duck or a call duck cross of some kind.

At the end of the day you have what is called a very handsome drake :) Congrats on the new ducks. :)

Then I would say maybe a pekin mallard cross. :) He looks similar to how mine looked, except mine was all black with a white bib...yours is all brown with a little white bib...hmmmm

Your ducks are lovely and it was so kind of you to rescue them. I just want to add that khaki ducks can have white similar to your drake. Mine has the white spots and chocolate coloring like yours but his feathers are more striped like a mallard. Your boy's feathering is more solid like a buff duck. If he stays small than he might be part call duck. Sure is an interesting mix whatever it is! :)
