I've lived in the country before and had livestock and tons of fowl. But, I've been an urban girl for a long time now. On April Fool's day a bantam hen showed up in my enclosed patio. Pretty strange since I live on a busy intersection. But, I thought the kids were playing a joke when they said we had a chicken in there. No joke. The poor thing could barely walk from the leg mites, so we began treating and nursed her back to health. Once she was healed and happy she began laying eggs. We tried to find a home for her, but no one seemed to want her. So hubby has decided I'm way to attached to her to get rid of her. The coop is being built now and we have purchased 3 coop mates for her to play with. She is a light brown leghorn bantam and we just purchased some Old english chicks. we will merge them together when the coop is built and the chicks are just a bit bigger.
