a windy hill in southwestern Indiana...
Two new kids on the block... one has longer thicker legs, a little longer tail feathers... both buff orpingtons about 12 weeks old... can anyone tell if they are both hens ( I hope!) or if one is a cockerel? Many thanks, I'm new at this!
I may need to get better pictures...

Those are BOTH pullets! :love

Comb and waddles would be MUCH larger on cockerels by now.

Until one year old they are called pullet or cockerel. After that is when they technically become hen or rooster.

The one way to absolutely tell the truth about gender that does't lie is saddle feathers, though sometimes they can come in still a little late...

Seabright males are hen feathered. But hens NEVER get those pointy saddles.
