I know the rules regarding the distance from my home and my neighbor's home, but what's the current rule for the number of chickens in Los Angeles? I know that one an only have one rooster with a registration, unless otherwise approved. I've heard a cap of 4 hens, but other places said no cap on number of chickens. Does anyone have an "official" resource?

I don't have an official source for you so I guess this will just be hearsay, but my understanding is that the only limit on hens is the distance to dwellings. They have to be 20' from your house and 35' from your neighbors' houses. There is no limit on the number of hens.

You can keep one rooster if he is 100' away from your neighbors, no permit necessary.
