New male duck is biting all the females

Today, I introduced a new pair of breeding runners to my flock of ducks (bonded pairs of Ancona, Campbells, and Pekins) and the male runner started biting the fronts of the necks of all the females. Not the back of the neck like they were mating, but as if they were fighting. But he didn't do it to any of the males.

To me it seemed like he was staking his claim to the females but I would have expected the other males to be upset.

Thoughts?

Duck dynamics are mysterious. Watch closely, just keep them all safe. Things are likely to change over the next while. Congratulations, by the way!

And do be careful with multiple drakes - they can gang up on a female, just get into some serious and sometimes lethal mischief. Sounds like you probably are protecting everyone from themselves already.
