Hello!
We acquired our first ducks may of last year, a Runner and Cayuga, they were days old when we got them, and have been incredibly fun! Since then we have learned a lot, specifically the female to male ratio lol. We added another mature female runner and had a male Runner and male Saxony. Both those last two males were returned since our Cayuga did not appreciate them.
Now;
Both our female runners began laying last year and only paused from about mid December to mid January. We have been enjoying their hard work on my bagels and other recipes! Recently we decided to try incubating "just to see". Well to our surprise, all 5 eggs we put in the incubators were fertile, and yesterday all 4 that were in one incubator hatched!!! The fifth is in a separate incubator and is several days later.
We decided to join this forum because we were worried during the end of the hatching process. One of the four externally pipped, but was that way for 48 hours. Overnight it zippered through the egg and I found it early in the morning getting ready for work! Surprisingly, the other 3 only took a few hours and were all out early afternoon! We were worried, we were going to have to assist the first hatching and were reading through threads on here and decided to just be patient.

We had also picked up a Khaki Campbell and Blue Swedish from TSC. we know the khaki is a female but not quite certain the swedish is. We tried vent sexing, but being out first time we were very gentle and not certain of the results. As for our Cay-unners, we will try vent sexing them after a couple days.
