Hi! We have been taking advantage of this site since we began our adventure with domestic fowl (chickens and ducks) and are excited to be real members! We live in Central Oregon and started out with 4 hens in late Spring 2012 - 2 White Plymouth Rocks (Mullet & Suzy Q), 1 Black Austrolorp (Obsidian), and 1 Speckled Sussex (Pie). The SS we lost to an owl attack, but have since acquired 2 female Runners (Princess Pea and Mud), 4 Muscovy hens (Brownie, Bubbles, Virgin Mary, and Lucy), and a Muscovy drake (King Pimp). In mid-September we were blessed with an additional Muscovy drake duckling (Uno), and last week we got our first rooster: a handsome French Copper Marans we've named George Clooney. We discovered BYC during our earliest internet education about domestic fowl, and soon realized it was the site that came up the most frequently and had the most reliable information. We have been very lucky to have almost no problems with our flock, but have found a wealth of knowledge and keep coming back. When we aren't chasing the "chucks" (or the "dickens") , we are establishing and maintaining our little vegetable farm and playing with the dogs. All of our girls have been terrific layers, so a lot of baking and eating gets done as well!! Looking forward to gaining knowledge and sharing experiences!
