(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

We had some chickens growing up, but it has probably been 12 years or so since I last had any.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

None currently. Just bought a new home with a barn/land and am in the planning stages of getting some chickens hopefully within the next month or two. Reading through a few books and planning my coop and will be building one soon. Will probably start with 8 - 12 Hens for now and down the road setup space for Broilers as well.

(4) How did you find out about BackYardChickens.com?

While googling some stuff! I have seen it popping up more and more from searches and other social sites. Figured I should join

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Woodworking and homebrewing are my main hobbies. I like to read as well and do things outside (hike, bike, soccer, etc)

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

Married with a 9 month old little guy. We have two dogs, two cats, have one horse currently but will be getting a buddy for her once we move her into our property. I had goats growing up, so I may get some goats down the road, but chickens are my priority to get going first. I am a Network Engineer for a higher ed institution in the Central VA area and as such am somewhat of a IT geek.

IT geeks are always welcome, we have many - that rescue inept computer failures like me.:celebrateThank you for joining us at Backyard chickens.

And mechanics save the mechanic inept me! although I am working on it more. I am the guy they put in the corner that you probably would never deal with, all behind the scenes stuff. Thanks for the welcome!
