Hey everyone. I'm getting setup to get a few chickens to keep in my backyard in Atlanta. Its about .25 acre, but there's a vegetable garden that's doing pretty good and i want to try raising chickens. Probably just a few bantams - maybe Dominique because that's what my dads family always raised.
Here looking for advise and encouragement since I'm new to it all.

Right now i'm building a coop and expect to get chickens in a month or so.

Thanks-

Hi Mark and welcome to BYC.

Here’s a link to the Articles section - https://www.backyardchickens.com/articles/ There you’ll find lots of information on almost every aspect of keeping chickens - from coop building ideas, to incubating eggs.

There’s a link on the page above to the Learning Centre - it’s a great resource. If you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

Each week, various topics are discussed, which can also be a great resource - https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/topic-of-the-week-thread-archive

One tip I can give you (based on learning this the hard way)...if you don't want the chickens to help themselves to anything & everything growing in your garden, put up some sort of fencing.

It's nice to have you here!
