Hi guys thanks for the welcoming! I just started my own backyard flock and so far so good! I had no idea how fun chickens could be...and how cheap they are to maintain! I do have a question about one of my chicks...it was supposed to be a barred rock but instead of getting white feathers she is getting brown. I am so confused!

Another good way to identify chicks is to go to feathersite.com and they show photos of all the breeds, including the chicks for that breed. Barred rock chicks start out black with cream markings. Good luck!
