New to BYC and new to chickens altogether (except for eating them).

We are located north of Austin and bought a mobile chicken coop and a dozen 6 week old hens the day after Easter 2014. We have 10 Rhode island Reds and 2 Black Beauty sex-links, but lost one of the Reds to a predator before I got the run enclosed on the top! DOH!

I have fascinated by these hens and can't wait to see them start producing. I sit outside the run and watch them every chance I get because I have never been near chickens other than at the dinner table.

Here's the current set up, I have a chickendoors.com door on the way, a solid roof system is in the works:

That's Timmy our Bichon counting his chickens...

Welcome to Backyard chickens. Get ready to buy/build more coops. Its called chicken math, they keep adding up! Love the coup in the picture!

Welcome to BYC!

What a nice coop and run you have! Looks like a very nice home for your flock.

Your dog looks like a real cutie pie. He looks similar to our Maltese dog. :)

Make yourself at home here on BYC and enjoy all your poultry adventures!
