I recently moved to a farm and wanted chickens. We went on holiday to the coast and brought back 20 layers, three weeks old. Locally they are called Koekoeks - apparently dual purpose. My partner then decided we should get broilers as well and ordered some - 114 arrived on the farm in a small box!! Well, 6 weeks later they weren't small any more and we slaughtered them. All of them in one day. Never again!!!
Being new to chickens and not knowing what to do, I discovered backyard chickens and have been on the site almost every day.
