Hey everyone! My name is Steve and I am in Collin County, TX and about to get started with a small flock of laying hens. in an ideal world I want to get about 15 hens and have a variety of breeds and egg colors. I have a couple coop kits from CCONLY coops being delivered next week and will be putting them together and would like to already have some good ideas/connections for where I'm going to buy my birds. Hopefully I can make some friends that can help advise and point me in the right direction as I start this new adventure.

in reality, I'm getting these more for my dad who is battling stage 4 incurable cancer right now. He has always wanted to have chickens, and my mother has always told him it wasn't going to happen if he wanted to keep his wife...so he has always wanted them, but never had them. He wants chickens, and a new truck. I can't afford to buy him a new truck, so he is getting Chickens (and mom is mad at me! LOL).

Thank you,
Steve

:frow Hello and Welcome to BYC.
But, so sorry about your dad's illness.

You are such a special person to be getting him the flock he wants.:hugs

Since you already have leads on sources for the chickens, I'll just wish you luck in getting everything going so your dad can have time to enjoy his hens.
