Hello BYC members! My name is Dawn and I am a chicken addict.
I have had chickens for the last couple of years but just had to start over in February due to flock annihilation by the local coyote population. I currently have 18 chickens - Aruacanas, Anconas, Polish Top Hats, Barred Rocks, a Buff Orpington and one random Roo. We are in the process of building a new coop closer to the house and substantially bigger than the one we had bought and modified. I am so excited!!
I also raise registered longhorns (not to be confused with leghorns!). My husband and I have two boys ages 3 and 5 as well as 2 dogs, a tank full of fish and 2 hamsters.
