Hello there! :) I have learned so much from this site! I do have one question though. I recently bought a home in Warren County Virginia (haven't moved in yet).. I just discovered that it is zoned R-1. I read the Warren county code and it does not specifically forbid chickens and livestock, but when I called the zoning office I was told they're not allowed. Any advice??

Hello there and welcome to BYC! [IMG]

Have you called the town hall too? Sometimes they know more than zoning boards. You might also stop by this section of BYC on the Local Chicken Laws and How To Change Them...https://www.backyardchickens.com/f/37/local-chicken-laws-ordinances-and-how-to-change-them

There maybe a section about your area there or you can start one of your own.

You can also stop by your state thread and chat with your chicken neighbors to see what the laws are around your area or other parts of your state....https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/80/virginia

Good luck and I hope you can get some chickens soon!
