(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?
Yes, I'm brand new to them. Just had my coop and run built this weekend.

None as of right now. Opinions? Start with new chicks or no?

(3) What breeds do you have?
Looking at cornish x rocks, sex links or australorps. Opinions? Primarily for egg layers BUT would like them to have the ability to double as meat chickens.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?
Anything outside! Fishing, hunting, etc

:welcome:woot Welcome to BYC! I am sure you will love chickens. whether you should get chicks depends on how much time you have. I have only gotten pullets, basically teenagers, and they are easy to care for and very cute! I'm sure there are other members who can tell you more. I'm a vegetarian, so I can't tell you about meat birds but here is a good link: https://www.mypetchicken.com/chicken-breeds/which-breed-is-right-for-me.aspx

Again, welcome to BYC!

Did you build your coop secure?
Make sure there are no gaps that predators can get in through and make sure you have something to stop them from digging under to get it.
Can't stress these two things enough.
