Hello all, I recently signed up and I'm looking for some opinions on a chicken I have. I got some for Christmas from my boyfriend. We're not sure if one if this is make male though and I was hoping I could get anyone's input. It'll be a shame though if it happens to be a boy because she/he is my favorite of my small flock. I haven't seen any signs of saddle feathers, but the feathers around her neck seem to be more pointed than a female chickens should be. Her name is Ginger. She's a little over two months old. [IMG]

More full body pictures would be helpful. But I am thinking because of that much red and comb development at 9 weeks old that you have a roo.

Thanks for the fast reply! That's a shame, I'll post some full body photos if that'll help.

Oh dear, yes, I do believe you have a rooster! [IMG] I don't know why it always has to be the favorites that turn out to be the boys!

Welcome to BYC. Glad you decided to join our flock. I actually already answered you on your What Breed or Gender is This? thread, but as I stated there, you have a cockerel. Sorry.( If you haven't done so already, definitely check out our Learning Center at https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center. There is lots of useful information there. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have. We are here to help in any way we can. Cheers.

I notice he/she has feathered feet which shot down my opinion of breed. I think a male also.
