Hey, Txs for the welcome. I,m Jack (Jack55). My wife, Lois and I bought a home halfway up a small mountain facing west and overlooking Warwoman Creek. I started a garden, set up for raising earthworms and mealworms, the built a coop and run. Next week I'll be looking to buy 3-4 female Orphingtons, Leghorns, RI reds, Golden comets, or Hyline. Want nice looking, gentle, great layers and these choices were revealed in my research. I,be found a few sources but they,re 1 or 2 hours away. I,d much rather buy from an almost neighbor. Any thoughts? Txs to those who make this site possible. Jack

Hey again, Just realized this is not a local site. The Warwoman is a creek in the mountains of northeast GA that emptied into the wild river where the movie Deliverance was filmed, the Chattooga river. So, this site will teach me something, but may or may not be a place to find neighbors selling poultry. Jack

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

BYC has Topic of the Week discussions which I have found to be a great resource, informative and sometimes entertaining; so definitely worth checking out.

If you would like to share Pictures and Stories of your flock when they arrive and/or other critters, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out ;)

Including your general location on your profile will assist others. Location, climate, season etc can be important factors when members are responding to any questions you may have and vice versa.
