Hello Everyone,
I just got into raising chickens in 2019. My current flock consists of (hens) four rhode island reds, two black sex links, one buff orpington, and two "Americauna", and one (rooster) rhode island red. I am fairly new to chicken farming, but I've read a bit about it and mostly enjoy myself. I live near kentucky/indiana/kentucky, close enough to a road that I don't want my chickens running loose, but with enough land that there's not going to be problems with noise or smell. I've really got into the idea of having either a flock of cochin or a flock of americauna (actual ones), or maybe a mix of the two. If anyone has ideas of good breeds or mixes for the area, I'd be very happy to hear about it. I mostly went in wanting eggs (big mistake for a couple to have ten chickens for eggs for just two people). We very much enjoy our chickens and they are our outdoor babies. I look forward to learning from everyone here. Thank you.
