    Hello All,

My name is Craig and live in Roanoke, Texas.

I recently bought 28 BCM's from a guy I know who had them since chicks.
He bought from a gentelman in Sherman, Texas.
Since I brought them home they have had some bloody stools.
I have been researching and need to go back out and check out the samples against the pictures.
Some are intestan gutting, somthing like that.
    Or coccidios is mentioned.
Have never had this before in raising chickens.

Any ideas what I should do?
What is the best treatment if cocci....

    Any help is much appreciated!

Thanks and have good things about this site... Regards Craig

First- Hello Craig from SC and welcome to BYC! As for the bloody stool, for coccidios you can treat with Sulmet or Corid. Check your local feed store to see which they have. Personally I have only used Sulmet as that was all I could find locally, but it worked wonderfully and it was easy to administer as I just added it to their daily water for a few days.

Welcome to BYC. It could be shed interstinal lining which is normal. It wouldnt hurt to give them corid (amprolium.) Dosage for corid 9.6% liquid solution is 9.5cc's per gallon of water for 5 days. Corid can be found in the cattle section at your feed store.

    Thanks All for the Welcome!!!
I wanted to give an update.... and appreciate everyone's advise.

I got some sulmet and did the trick!!! Did have a few kick the bucket... poor things.

Anyone know if it is something that can be picked up easily after you have closed your flock?
Will my chicks when I let them in the dirt at about 6 weeks catch it?

    Thanks -- Craig
