I just joined but have been reading a lot on this website. There is a lot of good information here. I am new to raising chickens and started a flock for my 9 and 7 year old girls to help with. We bought 5 as unsexed and went back and got 3 more as they were supposed to be pullets from tractor supply. I will be posting to try to find out how many Roos I have and breeds.

Welcome! Good luck with your new chickens!! I loved helping my parents with chickens when I was that age. I hope your girls enjoy it too!

@jbill0060 Here's some places to get you started...

    https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/getting-started-raising-chickens

First off you'll need to decide what you want (chicks or grown birds) and then make sure you have housing ready for them, and food. Coop designs and chicken feeding here:

    https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/2/Coops
    https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/housing-and-feeding-your-chickens

The fun part is choosing breeds. Here are some guidance on that topic:

Enjoy your new venture and if you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask [IMG]
