Hi all, greetings from Kentucky. I just purchased 12 chicks today. Straight run so I am hoping for more hens then roosters. I had chickens before but it has been several years so I am starting a new flock with new pen and coop.[IMG]

    Welcome to BYC!
Hopefully you don't win the cockerel lotto with your gamble --- have you got plans for the males you end up with?

Well, my Dad has built a coop and hasn't started his flock yet so I am hoping that he may want at least one otherwise I am thinking posting them at the farm store and maybe Craig's list. I could do meat chickens with them but that is not my goal.

G’Day from down under cjpets [IMG] Welcome!

As you have already received some links to great starting points, I will just wish you and your little ones all the best.

I hope you enjoy being a BYC member. There are lots of friendly and very helpful folks here so not only is it overflowing with useful information it is also a great place to make friends and have some fun.

If you would like to share pictures and stories of your flock, you have come to the right place. BYC’ers never tire of these and do not back away slowly or commence eye rolling when the photo album or home videos come out [IMG]

hope you get some pullets. Straight run is [IMG]their chance to sell males instead of getting rid of them.
