I incubated eggs from our local Amish farmer and ended up hatching 3 chicks, bought 8 chicks from FFH and have bought 5 adult peafowl (1 cock & 4 hens). The peafowl are 3 -5 years old. They were very active in laying eggs for me the last month. I incubated a total of 4 eggs. 1 has hatched, 1 is currently in lockdown. 1 goes into lockdown in two days and 1 was added to the incubator today. Lost a lot of eggs due to them dropping from their roost at night. Anyway, I have always loved peafowl and am so happy to have gotten mine. Chickens are a whole NEW story for me as I'm only familiar with them on my table with a knife and fork. We kind of got the chicks for the peahen as it was extremely loud and lonely with it's chirping. They are all loving each other in the brooder. I'm new to all things about chicks, chickens, peafowl and peachicks. I am in Michigan and wondering if it's too late in the season to start with chicks.
