Hi. So I'm totally new to this. I have six hens and am looking for a coop. What do you think of the prefab coops that you put together yourself? I live in New England so I want to make sure they are sturdy. Thanks for helping

! Pleased to have you aboard! You are indeed a wise woman to wonder about the sturdiness of pre-fab coops! I am sure there are high quality pre-fabs out there but I know there are some that are junk. Inferior hinges and latches, lightweight hard ware cloth, thin lumber. What I find most limiting about the pre-made ones is the size - they always seem too small. Might want to consider how many birds you will eventually have - might make you decide to build own to your own specs. Good luck to you!

Thanks. This is helpful. It is so tempting because they are reasonable, coops are so expensive!
