Hello all, my husband and I decided we wanted to get some chickens (again). We talked my mother into getting some awhile back but she took care of them and ended up having to give them up because her lab kept eating them. We have 1 black sex link, 1 red sex link, 2 golden sex links, 1 bars rock, 1 mottled Java, 1 Ameraucana and 1 cuckoo maran. Honestly we only wanted 4 ladies. But we read you should get 25 percent more to make up for losses, I'm not sure if that's true?, and we ended up doubling what we intended. You could call it chick fever lol. Anyhoo, considering all my girls are basically different, will they all coincide together?

Hi and welcome to BYC - glad that you have joined us. I'm no expert on what breeds co-exist well with others, and a lot will depend on how you keep them (free range or in a run). Having multiple feeding stations, places where the more timid chickens can hide in etc will help keep things calm.

You'll find lots of info in the Learning Centre (even if you have lots of experience)
https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/1/Learning_Center, and if you have a specific topic in mind, just type it in the search box - there's a wealth of information on past and present threads.

You may wish to consider joining your state thread as it will put you in touch with other BYC members in your area - https://www.backyardchickens.com/t/270925/find-your-states-thread

    All the best
