Greeting FromTexas... I had a small mixed flock about 5 years ago and then had to sell off due to a move into a neighborhood, and some family health issue. I am starting up again, on an even smaller scale this month. Building a small 20 square foot coop, and plan on free ranging in my garden/ weed patch most of the time. I have never had orpingtons and never had bantams, after hearing good things from this group on bantam orpingtons I though they might make a good small hobby/pet flock for us. Any thought/comments? With all that fluffy plumage will they do well in the hot humid Central Texas climate?

Thanks for the input, to. Bad I can't shave them like my poodle in the summer.
