Picked up our week old chicks last night they seem to be doing good. We are using a small brooder and they seem to be comfortable. From reading other posts my heat lamp is a little big but I have managed to position it where it is only directly on about half the space I decided to order a premier plate as it seems that is a good option for a small brooder and I will get a lower wattage bulb for the rest of the space. They are in our laundry room for right now. Thanks for all the information.

Since this picture was taken I have adjusted the heat lamp to the right side - they are active and sleeping all over the brooder so I am guessing they are good with the temperature.

I pick up my RIR chicks next Thurdsay, cannot wait! Might have to get a different one for my Mom...she wants one as a pet (never an entree, lol) and I just love any posting with the little chicks! Congratz on your little ones!
