While I was out of town, my girls started laying in a new place far away from the coop, and now one has been sitting on 14 of them for a week. I adopted a rooster a few months ago, but don't know if any "action" is going on. Now the temps have dropped to the 30s at night, and I'm worried about her out there by herself. SHe's in hay, and under an old box, and I've been putting a little towel over her to keep her warm, and giving her food and water.
Any advice? How soon can I tell if the eggs are fertilized?
