new rooster

hey yall, I need some advise. I have 1 6 month old NHR and 3 6 month old RIR hens. I have been getting eggs every day untill the last 4 days. I got a brown leghorn rooster 6 days a go and they are getting along fine. The rooster does mount them alot.... do yall think the rooster is y i havnt gotten any eggs? thanks

Any change in the flock dynamics can set hens off laying for a while. I would imagine a randy rooster exercising his rights just might be quite a big change in flock dynamics!

Give 'em a couple of weeks to adjust their egg-laying machinery to handling fertilized eggs. (Not that I think there's much change in how eggs are formed, but it sounded good.)

Any addition to a flock upsets the pecking order, which they have to re-establish. And a rooster becomes Head Of Flock, which really upsets the pecking order they'd already got settled.
