Hello, I am a new Silkie Mom as of today. I've done lots of research but still can't tell/decide if 2 of my silkies are Males or not. I feel like at least one is but still not sure. The lady I got them from said they were all female but I know she was trying to get rid of 2 males as well. Kind of thinking she may have sent a male or two with me because she knew I was new to being a chicken mama. Either way they will have a good home, just would like to know if they are males or not. Thanks![IMG]

Welcome to BYC! It's great to have you.

Silkies are really tough. I don't know that the breeder necessarily sold you males on purpose... but the most experienced breeders will tell you that Silkies are the hardest breed to sex and many folks (including the breeders themselves) can't tell until 6-8 months of age or until they crow or lay an egg. I would tentatively guess this is a cockerel, but who knows.

Could you post a photo of front view, head forward so we can see the size and extent of comb? How old?

Hi there and welcome to Backyard chickens! I do not know much about Silkies, and they are difficult to sex, so I will leave that to the Silkie lovers! Good luck and enjoy BYC!
