Looking for ideas/things to add to the peafowl stickies.
I believe that if you want to add new topics under the existing Peafowl "Stickies" index, you need to get in touch with a BYC administrator.
I think you prepare you "sticky" then use the report flag and explain why/where you want it.
Right now I'm just thinking about subjects to add, will deal with making them stickies once done.
Right now the stickies look like this:
And this is sort of what I was thinking of adding to it:
Those ideas for new stickies sound really helpful, Kathy.
I think that one tricky thing about stickies is that you can't stop people from treating them as just regular threads and posting random stuff, thereby making it more difficult to weed out the useful information. It almost seems like it would be more useful to collect information on, for example, worming, and then post a sticky that is a "locked" page - that can't be commented on.
Not to keep people from contributing but just to keep the sticky on topic.
I'm just saying this because there was an earlier discussion of making a sticky with peachick pictures, a kind of peachick database to aid in identification.
But it seemed that it would just turn into a thread along the lines of "Show Off Your Peachicks," and it wouldn't serve the purpose of being a useful guide. We did try to start an image database (http://peafowlimagedatabase.weebly.com/index.html) but it didn't get off the ground - I think it was kind of intimidating because there are so many colors/patterns that we can't get pictures of...
We can also do member pages, I think, just need to figure out how. Anyway, this might be a good place to make drafts of the final sticky, 'cause like you, I also think it should be a brief reference page.
Here's where you make member pages: https://www.backyardchickens.com/atype/0/Member_Pages
You're so smart, lol, thanks!
