I am buying some new baby chicks today (20 of them) from the store. I have a few hens that are laying and bruting. My question is can I take one of my existing 6 month old hens and put them in a private coop with the new chicks to help take care of them and teach them?

I would not put 6 month old hens with newly hatched/young chicks. It will not go well for the littles. If you have some broodies, you could try slipping them under them, but be prepared for the chance that they may not accept the new chicks.

It is unlikely a 6 month old pullet will be broody and be willing to take over 20 chicks. That number is also probably more than she could keep warm anyway.
