I have 3 crossbreed silkie/black australorp eggs that are on day 22 and I see no signs of piping. I built my own incubator but kept track of temp and humidity, rotated 3 times a day until last 3. Did I do something wrong? Can they really go much later?

Welcome to BYC, give them a few more days, i know it can put you on edge but you just have to wait, I had one chick that was a day late breaking the air cell and did not hatch until day 26, I was in boston and did not want my mother to have to help the baby hatch, they tell you not to but if it is taking too long I will help, usually the ones I end up helping are shrink wrapped and or the shell is extra thick, I have one girl that her egg is really thick and sometimes her chicks have trouble.

I would wait until at leaf day 25 sometimes they are just a little slow.

I'm having a hard time keeping the humidity regulated. I've tried just about everything. Any ideas?

I've never incubated eggs but, I believe you stop turning the eggs at day 17 or what they call "lockdown." If your temps were on the low side, they can take a bit longer to hatch.

Sending good hatching vibes your way [IMG] Please update after hatch

just regulated in general or just keeping it high enough? I use dry incubation which is filling up the well of the incubator all the way up and then letting it go dry and after all the days of incubation at lockdown I fill it all the way up again and have never had any trouble.
