Hey! Looking forward to owning chickens. Talked to a guy last year at TSC, and he suggested I read-up on chickens. So I spent a year learning without owning them, now today, TSC has baby chicks and I am ready to cluck.[IMG]

Welcome to BYC! YOu did the right thing in doing some research first, next question do you have a coop ready? I did the research, got the chicks and thought oh there's plenty of time to build a coop-but they grow so fast you got to be ready to move them!

    Best of Luck!

Oh, yeah, "Chicken Mama" is right!

Welcome to BYC from California wine country in the Western Sierra Foothills!

I remember when my Buffy hatched my very first GrandChick, Samantha. And watched how my rooster Carl took such good care of his new family, helping her raise his chick.

Carl and Buffy are over three years old now, Samantha is over two years old, and every single chick the broody girls hatch is yet another GrandChick for me. I do some incubating now and again, so those chickens I hatch are my kids, too.

And to know some of "my" chicken kids have hatched from eggs I swapped with others is such a hoot. I have chicken kids in other parts of the country now!
