I have 13 chickens total. It wasn't supposed to be more than 6, but ya just
keep getting more & more when ya least expect it.[IMG] New to the chicken world. Learning more about them every day.
2 are New Hampshire Reds, 2 Australorps, a pair of black silkies, a pair of white silkies with a spare extra rooster, & 4 Silver Laced Wyandottes which 2 of them are roosters. Planning on adding a pair of Columbian Wyandottes soon or White Wyandottes, not sure yet on which to go with.

Our house hold also has 2 showdog Australian Shepherds, a mixed black Lab, a black Persian older cat, a Flame Point Himalayan cat, a grey tiger tabby cat, and if you can have a red cat, we have the reddist marmalade painted tomcat youngen that I've ever seen. This doesn't count the 18 small Japanese Corturnix Quail and 2 older 4H rabbits also. So it's always busy around here.[IMG]

I predict 13 will turn into 31 and 31 into 131 in two years! Be careful! They are addictive.

PS I'd go with white wyandotte. I'm not a fan of Columbian or Light anythings. However, I'm the biggest fan of Delawares... probrably why I don't like a heavy black hackle.

I got some bantam white wyandottes and they are precious.

    tnchickennut,

Thanks on the advice, I'll keep it in mind. Most of my birds are going to be big ones. Teenagers in the birdworld still. Silly things all the time:)

And yes I see what you mean, they are addictive! I'm always thinking about chickens it seems:weee

OMG! You don't even know. I have found that people try to converse with me about normal stuff and I can't help it... I turn it around to chickens everytime! Sometimes I don't even listen to them... I turn them off and think about coops and breeding pens and hatching and who I can breed to who to get this or that. It's probrably a dibilitating addiction, but I'm not going to go telling anyone officially. They will medicate me and life would be boring! lol.

I did really good today. Went to a local trade and sold 4 - didn't buy any. Then I went to the TSC and they had new chicks in and I didn't get any! We are making progress.... not really. i got 25 comming in from hatchery for "eatting eggs" and 34 of my own eggs in the incubator, 21 in the brooder, 4 from the neighbor who lost her whole flock to dogs except the 4 chicks... so now I have them because she is getting out of it... and those are the ones in the house!! I got about 175-200 more outside. You should see how much I spend on fencing!
