Hey ya'll...

I'm Abbey,

Abbey Normal ........ aw c'mon.... it's funny!

ok, I'm Gini. I'm from Alabama, but call Broadway, NC home now.

I have 2 little girls that I had late in life. My daughter Rachel who just turned 7 came just as I turned 40, Rebekah came at 33 weeks... 2 days before I turned 42. Sadly I never got to hold her when she was "just born"... I died on the table and was dead when they took her.... but from what I hear, I'm doing ok for a dead lady! It was 7 days before I got to see her... being in a coma really will put a cramp in your cuddling your newborn!

I have an awesome husband. He's a pro photographer and full time Biblical student. He also loves animals as I do... we have 3 boxers and a choodle.... ok, back in my day that dog would have been "uh oh, somebody jumped the fence".... now they are called "hybreds"... ok, yea.... but she is sweet... ugly as dirt... just imagine a spanish and french accent combined.... and the wild hair to go with it! But as my husband said when we only had the 3 boxers.... "honey, there is enough love in our home for one more".... oh how the floodgates were open wide then!

We have 3 alpacas... I shear their fiber for spinning into yarn. They are lovely, but BIG.... so I'm swapping them with a woman in Western NC who raises angora goats for them. We have 2 (maybe 3) stray kitties... 1 is getting more used to the sight of me and won't run as much, but can't touch... no clue if a boy or girl... the other... Catthrine (Cat for short) is a lovely tabby calico and spends the night (every nite) inside in her "appartment (a small dog kennel with the door locked on her sooofffttt blankies)... she will bang on the door at night if I don't come get her "on time" fuss all the way thru the kitchen and go sit in her "appartment" till I shut the door... such a sweet girl.

now my chickens.

our neighbors are of different culture, I try not to judge, in spite of finding cock fighting highly distastfull (and I've called the cops so much they know my voice)... so I realized that I had been adopted by a roo and 5 hens.... now I'm still sporting my beautiful roo but only 3 hens. In spite of Chester being chicken napped night before last... he must have fought hard to get back home to me... and brought back 3 of his faithful ladies. Hubs and I are building him and the girls a nice SAFE coop... to keep our neighbors from climbing over our fence and chicken-napping my babies again...... maybe when I do see them all outside, I'll go clean my sniper rifle within their sights.... grrrrr.... just hate a theif!

I'm a soapmaker by trade. I run my business from home. This allows my schedule to be very flexible and allow locals to come over to "shop" from my kitchen. I've ventured into making lotions and lip balms and spin yarn from many different fiber sources.

anyway... dat's me...in a nutshell.... or just a nut...

so, any of ya'll near me? I live just outside of Sanford NC!

Well, it sounds like you lived a very full & lively life! Welcome back to the land of the living...God has a plan for each of us; looks like you were meant to be a chicken farmer!

LOL, yea, Abbey somebody... young frankenstein (fraaa-kin-steene) giggle... I am SO dating myself here.

I did have a pet chicken when I was my daughters age. It was one of those white chickens that fell off the truck... Daddy saved it and brought it home to me. She was such a cuddler.

Thanks for the welcome! I've already seen a wide variety of topics and so much info...

I'm going to glean it to see how I should care for some day old chick I plan on getting. I want some Buff Brahmas (sp?)... wanted Silkies, but afraid with our heat, they'd suffer.

CHOCOLATE???? !!!!

wow those are nice.

Alpacas are great! I'd keep them if they were not so big. My youngest has Down's syndrome... and she has no fear of ANY animal, even big ones... and even though my boys would never hurt her on purpose... they are easily startled and might knock her down if touched when they didn't know she was that close.

They do not spit... Llamas do, Pacas only spit in disputes with one another... just don't get in the cross-fire or you'll be washing green goo off your body.
