    Hi. :)
I've got 2 chicks that just hatched and 2 more that have pipped, but the 2 that pipped haven't moved in a few hours. I'm starting to get worried. I have a Styrofoam incubator and it's been difficult trying to figure out the humidity. I wonder if that has anything to do with it?

Hello, and welcome to BYC! [IMG]I'm glad you joined us.

Humidity could certainly play a part, since if it is too dry, the shell membrane will be tough. This makes it harder for chicks to get out of the egg. Or, if humidity is too high, there is a possiblity that the chicks will drown in the egg (though this has never happened to my chicks, even with humidity problems).

Chicks do take a long time to hatch, so I would be patient. I've had eggs pipped for over 24 hours with no progress and still hatch.

Sending good hatching vibes your way [IMG]. You may want to head for "Raising backyard chickens," the menu opens to the right, section on incubation and hatching.

Sorry I have never hatched any myself.
