Hi everyone, I am going to be receiving my three Pekin Duck chicks next week! They are all females, just wanted to see if anyone had any tips for me as far as the Pekin Ducks go? I'm so excited to get them and can't wait!! Any insight would be greatly appreciated!!

    Do you already have ducks?

Only thing i noticed were they didnt need as much heat as other ducklings ive had. theyd pant and ide lower the heat

Pekins are the biggest cutest cuddliest duckies ever!

I second the heat thing! Mine would pant all the time, so they loved it when I would periodically turn off the heat lamp. My pekins love treats. Even when they were little! Congratulations on your new additions!

I don't have ducks so these would be my first. That's great advice in the heat, I will make sure I pay close attention to that, thank you!

Are the eggs good for eating? Any different flavor than a chicken egg?

Compared to the br chicks i had the ducks were more self suficient and found food and water quicker and easier, and whent from fragile shaking babies to ducklings quicker... if you know what i mean

Buuut the 6 BR chickens lived in a 3x3 brooder for 2 months, i cleaned it once every 2 weeks

ONE duckling in a 2x3 brooder needed spot cleaning everyday and flushed out cleaned every few days haha

    But waaay cuter than chickens

And for taste what i get is slightly richer but just as or more delish

They grow really fast and can have leg issues because of it - so just have some B complex vitamins or nutritional yeast ready - they may need the extra niacin. But they are so sweet and cuddly :) and you'll love them to pieces! CAn't wait to see pics!!!! :pop
