New to raising chickens

Hello from Ohio. While I don't have chickens yet I am becoming very informed about them on this wonderful site. Currently I have 6 wood posts cemented in the ground and a shed I found that I am going to convert into a coop. Our plan is to have our fine feathered friends by the end of Oct. We have 3 children and things get hectic. But with all my excitement and eagerness it may be sooner !!

Greetings from Ohio as well! I am also a newbie - but grateful to a very experienced good friend who has raised chickens since childhood! Any ideas on what kind of chickens you are going to get? There is alot of useful info on here -trust me i have spent hours reading things! LOL
