We got 5 pullets on April 23 from the local farm store. The oldest was 2 weeks, youngest was 1 week. We had a cocka-doodle-doo start a few mornings ago. We need help seeing which one it could be! Also: we have 3 inherited hens. Only 2 are laying. 1 stopped laying about a year ago (RIR). Could she be turning male & crowing?

Jules: About 8 weeks old, Ameraucana

Captain: About 9-10 weeks old Rhoade Island Red

Vader: About 8.5-9 weeks,Black Sex Link

C3PO: About 8-8.5 weeks, Ameraucana

Luna: About 7.5-8 wks, Blue Andalusian
(Really hoping it's not her...she's a favorite of many especially my chicken whisperer 11 year old - very attached!)

Hi there.

Usually males will get a redder comb first, and it's hard to see the combs on some of your birds. Can you post a single face shot on each bird? Especially your Easter Eggers, which were sold to you as Ameraucana.

My money is on C3PO or Captain as your culprit... :D

Jules is tricky to get pictures of & honestly have a hard time in pictures deciding if it's Jules or C3PO darker back feathers change in pictures based on light but here are the best 2 I have.

Let me know what more you need & I'll work on getting pictures of it tomorrow

Hmmm... still hard to tell...

But I will say, Vader and Luna are pullets, no worries...

Still think it's C3PO or Captain... C3PO's comb is pinkest, but something about Captain keeps making me wonder...
