how long will it be before my new lg tom will let me into his pen? I would like to give him more feed, he is not out yet but I would like to go into the pen

Mine let me in the pen the minute I put him in there. I would go in there if he needs food. If he is mean wear pants and bring a stick or club and hit at him if he trys to attack.

you can also try a squirt gun or a spray bottle, but I'm betting on the stick.

I guess he's more scared that you. If he merely threatens take as stick as suggested but first make a threatening noise. Show him food in your hand as a gesture of goodwill. If I ever sense that a bird will attack I shall ask my wife to go in first.
