new york city chickens

New York City, NY. Chickens are considered pets under the Health Code. Unlimited number of hens allowed; no roosters or other types of poultry. Code mentions cleanliness of chicken area must be kept clean.

Just came across this string after posting a new topic.

I live on Staten Island and was involved in rewriting the code in that I am involved with horses. The whole section on animals was being revamped.

The ferret fans were able to get ferrets back into legal territory as well, and they did it about six months after the code was written, but the code on the NYC link doesn't reflect that.

Unfortunately not everything I wanted got in...... a local politician (who had to resign because of a sex thing) nixed donkeys/burros/mules.

Luckily chickens (hens) are fine and now I'm finally taking advantage of that.

Great video, thanks so very much for sharing!!!! I sure wish my city would get with the program and allow us to have chickens! Legally, of course!
