Ok went to a poultry auction and picked up two gold pencilled Hamburgs they were listed as two, which is meant to mean of same sex and not a pair meaning one hen one cockerel, thinking I knew the difference between the male and female gold pencil purchased the duo hesitantly as one does have very large spurs. However since bringing them home not only does it have spurs but it seems to crow or at least makes a lot of noise!

Now I need to ask do the young cockerels have the same plummage as the hen and feather up later?

The chicken in the picture is a hen. Older hens can grow long spurs and sometimes do make a crowing noise if there is no rooster around. The male hamburg is colored diffrently. (Sorry, can't seem to spell that.)
