Hi Everyone! I'm from Michigan and very new Chicken farming! My kids bought me a coop for Mother's Day and I've been in Chicken heaven ever since. I went locally and bought 3-12 week old hens, 1 leghorn and 2 ICA Browns. In June, I ordered 5 hens from a hatchery and when they came in the mail it was love at first sight, 2 polish and 3 cinnamon queens, fast forward to today, out of the coop comes one of the polish crowing to beat the band! Had I not heard this myself I would have never believed it, I called the hatchery and they told me I could put him on Craig's list if I didn't want him, UGH!! I have to keep him he's spoiled rotten, and he's one of the family! I just hope he minds his Ps and Qs. Anyway thank you for giving me a place to share my love of my feathered friends and I hope to learn so much from all of you!
Welcome to BYC! I find myself in love with a young Polish roo myself. I wasn't going to keep a roo, but he's a keeper.
Morphing into a cockerel as soon as you fall in love with them is a centuries old rooster trick. It's not as successful as in bygone years before HOA restrictions but, still some roosters are able to pull it off.
