Hello everyone. I've been lurking the forum for a while, and can finally start posting now that I have a hope of sharing my life with poultry. We recently purchased a ten acre (future) homestead in the Bitterroot Valley. I've already ordered my turkey poults for next spring (lilacs and red slates!), and figure chickens won't be far behind. I love the easter eggers, marans, and wyandottes. Though I have no experience with hatching chicken eggs, I do have experience with reptile eggs and you guys' hatch-alongs look like tons of fun. We eventually plan to have a few cows, too, but that's next year at the earliest, if I can get everything set up in time. More realistically, it'll be 2014. Oh! Almost forgot about the rabbits. I've got a few Florida Whites I'm raising with the intent to breed them for meat. Great rabbits, can't say enough good things about them. Well, figure I've bored you enough for now. I look forward to getting to know everyone, and learning as I go.
Sounds like you have quite an adventure ahead of you! Can't wait to hear how the various additions to your homestead turn out.
Greetings from Kansas, Bitterroot, and ! Great to have you here! I envy you for the wonderful part of the country where you live! I wish you all the luck with your eventual turkeys, chickens, and cows!!
Welcome! Glad you joined us. You're right where we're considering moving...can't wait to get us some acreage to do pretty much exactly what you're doing.
